Out of the Blue Scuba is Danville, Virginia’s number one scuba. If you want to learn the wonderful sport of scuba diving, continue your education, or do a refresher course, contact us. We will work around your schedule, and we offer private or group classes in a relaxing, stress-free environment.
What you’ll learn in the PADI Open Water Diver course
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development (online, independent study, or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
- Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore

As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, I get the opportunity to teach people the wonderful sport of scuba. Scuba diving is my passion—it is relaxing and therapeutic.

Out of the Blue Scuba provides not only scuba certifications, but also:
- Advanced Open Water Certification — Hone your skills. This course can be taken after completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification. It’s titled PADI Advanced Open Water Diver because it advances your diving knowledge & skills.
- Rescue Diver Certification — Help yourself and help others. Learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver. It’s challenging, yet very rewarding.
- Divemaster Certification — Become a professional. Be a leader who mentors and motivates others. Gain dive knowledge, supervision abilities, and become a role model to divers around the world.
- Emergency First Response — Learn first aid and CPR. Discover simple-to-follow steps for emergency care. This course focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency.
- Discover Scuba — Curious but not ready to take the plunge? A quick and easy introduction into what it takes to explore the underwater world. Although this is not a scuba certification course, you’ll learn all the steps it takes to be a PADI certified diver.
